Touchscreen - Capacitive and Resistive

Capacitive touchscreens have capacitance filled like a layer behind the smartphone screen. when a conducting matter like our finger, or any other conducting material touches this layer the respective coordinates are set and the task is performed. You can try it with a plastic part of a pen and a graphite pencil and see the difference yourself.

Resistive touchscreens have two resistive layers with no conducting fluid inside. So we need to press it hard so one layer touches the other. Thus coordinates are set and the task is performed. Conducting or non conducting matter simply does not matter.

Conclusion : That is why capacitive touch is preferred over resistive because of formers better responsiveness.
